Lagos Govt Breaks Silence On Capturing At Lekki Toll Gate, Sends Directive To Military
The federal government of Lagos State has reacted after Nigerian troopers reportedly shot at harmless protesters on the Lekki toll gate on Tuesday evening.
The incident occurred following the declaration of a 24-hour curfew within the state.
In a press release signed by the state’s Honourable Commissioner for Data, Gbenga Omotoso, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu suggested safety brokers to not arrest anybody due to the curfew.
Sanwo-Olu additionally urged Lagosians to stay calm and ordered an investigation into the incident.
“There have been studies of capturing on the Lekki Toll Plaza, following the 24-hour curfew imposed on Lagos State to cease criminals who hid below the #EndSARS protests to unleash mayhem on harmless residents.
“The State Authorities has ordered an investigation into the incident.
“Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has suggested the safety brokers to not arrest anybody on account of the curfew, which he urges residents to watch for the peaceable environment all of us cherish.
“He advises Lagosians to stay calm and never permit criminals, who’ve hijacked the noble protest of our gallant youths, to achieve their evil plan of turning our expensive state the other way up.
“The Governor will do every thing inside his energy to make sure that the lives of all Lagosians are protected always.”
